Best CBD liquid: everything you need to know
By Vapor Spirit Fachteam

You can recognise the best CBD liquid by four things: a clear statement of the CBD content in milligrams, a certificate of analysis from an independent laboratory with a matching batch number, a complete list of ingredients without unclear additives and a traceable origin. Everything else – flavour, concentration, spectrum – is a matter of taste. If you check these four points, you already filter out most of the poor products.
What is CBD liquid?
CBD liquid, also called CBD e-liquid, is a liquid containing cannabidiol that is vaporised in an e-cigarette or a vape device. It is therefore an alternative to smoking flower and contains no tobacco. An important distinction: CBD liquid is not the same as CBD oil. Oil is dropped under the tongue and must never be vaporised – carrier oils such as MCT or hemp seed oil are not suitable for this.
Vaporised CBD enters the bloodstream via the lungs and is therefore usually noticeable within a few minutes, but its effect does not last as long as with oral intake. You can find details in the article on CBD duration of effect.
How to recognise a good CBD liquid
The market is confusing, and many products do not deliver what the label promises. These seven criteria separate the good from the bad:
Criterion | Feature of a good liquid | Warning sign |
Labelling | CBD content stated in mg per bottle and per ml | Only «contains CBD» without figures |
Lab analysis | Certificate of analysis with matching batch number | No certificate, or only on request |
Ingredients | Complete list, no unclear flavourings | Vague information such as «natural flavours» |
Origin | Country of manufacture specifically named | No manufacturer, no address |
THC content | Stated and below 1 percent | No information on the THC value |
Packaging | Dark glass, child-resistant closure | Clear bottle without safety closure |
The most important point is the certificate of analysis. It shows in black and white how much CBD is actually contained and whether any contaminants were detected. Our article on CBD lab analysis explains how to read such a document.

Ingredients: what you should pay particular attention to
Classic e-liquids are usually based on propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG). Both are approved, but some users tolerate them poorly, and they produce their own taste when vaporised. Adding MCT oil to liquids is also viewed critically, as oils are generally not intended for inhalation.
That is why our CBD e-liquids contain no PG, VG, PEG or MCT oil and consist of natural ingredients. Check the complete ingredient list for every product – if it is missing or only says «flavouring», that is a reason to keep looking.

Full spectrum, live resin or isolate?
Liquids differ in which plant compounds they contain. An isolate liquid contains only pure CBD. Full spectrum liquids also contain other cannabinoids and terpenes, which create the characteristic taste of the respective strain. Live resin extracts are obtained from freshly harvested, undried plants, which preserves a particularly large amount of terpenes.
This makes a clear difference to the taste: full spectrum and live resin liquids taste like the strain, while isolates are largely neutral. Whether the interaction of the plant compounds plays any further role has not been conclusively clarified by science – the idea behind it is described in the article on the entourage effect.
CBD content: which concentration suits you?
The concentration is stated in milligrams of CBD per bottle. This overview will help you choose:
Concentration | CBD per 10 ml | Suitable for |
Low | 100–300 mg | Beginners who want to start carefully |
Medium | 300–600 mg | Regular users |
High | 600–1000 mg | Experienced users with known tolerance |
It makes sense for beginners to start low and observe their own reaction before switching to a higher concentration. More is not automatically better – what matters is what you personally find pleasant.
The right vaporisation temperature
If your device has a temperature setting, it has a considerable effect on taste and vapour volume:
Temperature | What it means |
160–180 °C | More aroma, fine vapour, gentle on the terpenes |
180–200 °C | Balanced ratio of taste and vapour volume |
200–220 °C | Denser vapour, but less aroma and harsher on the throat |
For most people, the sweet spot is around 190 degrees. We go into more detail in the article Smoking or vaporising CBD flower.

Making CBD liquid yourself: why we advise against it
There are instructions circulating on how to mix CBD liquid yourself from isolate and a base liquid. Technically this is possible – but it is not advisable for two reasons. First, the actual CBD content cannot be measured at home, so the dosage remains an estimate. Second, and more importantly: not every substance that is harmless when swallowed may also be inhaled. Wrongly chosen carrier substances or flavourings can put strain on the airways when vaporised.
If you still want to experiment, use only ingredients that are expressly approved for inhalation. For everyday use, a ready-made, lab-tested product is the safer and usually also the cheaper choice.
Legal situation: are CBD liquids legal in Switzerland?
Yes. In Switzerland, hemp products with less than 1 percent THC do not fall under the Narcotics Act. For e-cigarettes and refill liquids, the provisions of tobacco product law also apply, including rules on labelling and sale to adults. You can find all the background information in the article Is CBD legal in Switzerland?.
Note for readers from Germany and Austria: lower THC limits of 0,2 to 0,3 percent apply there, and the rules for liquids differ. You can find products intended for the European market in our shop for Europe.

Frequently asked questions about CBD liquid
What is the difference between CBD liquid and CBD oil?
CBD liquid is vaporised, CBD oil is dropped under the tongue. CBD oil must not be vaporised, as carrier oils are not suitable for inhalation.
How much CBD should a liquid contain?
Common concentrations are 100 to 300 mg per 10 ml for beginners, 300 to 600 mg for regular users and 600 to 1000 mg for experienced users.
Does CBD liquid get you high?
No. CBD is not intoxicating. Swiss products contain less than 1 percent THC and do not produce a high like cannabis containing THC.
Do CBD liquids contain nicotine?
As a rule, no. Pure CBD liquids are nicotine-free. Check the labelling if you want to rule out nicotine.
Can I use CBD liquid in any vape device?
Not in every one. Check the manufacturer's information on the atomiser head and resistance – not every device is designed for every liquid.
How do I store CBD liquid correctly?
Cool, dark and tightly closed. Light and heat can break down the ingredients over time.
Conclusion: the best CBD liquid is not the most expensive one or the one with the most milligrams, but the one with complete labelling, an available certificate of analysis and traceable origin. Check these points before buying – then only your taste decides.
